Question: What is a hypertext link?

Answer:

Hypertext link is a fancy phrase for text on a web page that does something when you click on it. Usually the text is blue and underlined, and clicking on the text takes you to another web page. In other cases clicking on the text might download a document or create a new email message addressed to someone.

Your web browser might change a blue link to a purple link if you've previously visitied the page that it links to.

See the other questions and answers in this section for instructions for creating your own hypertext links.

Example
