Question: How do students and parents download my files?
Answer:
You may need to tell students and parents which files to download from your website (e.g., a syllabus with a tear-off to return) and how to download them.
How they do this depends on whether you used a Locker element or a Rich Text element. See Should I put a Locker or Rich Text on my web page? for a comparison of these page elements.
If you used a Locker
Step | Instructions | Example or Picture | Notes |
---|---|---|---|
1 | They go to the appropriate page on your website (usually the main page). | ||
2 | If they see the filename they click on it to download the file. | ||
3 | If they see folders they click one to open it, then return to Step 2. | ||
4 | The file they pick will download and either be saved to their disk, opened on their computer (e.g., in Microsoft Word), or opened in their web browser (e.g., for a PDF file). If it's saved to their disk, they can find it and double-click it to open the file. Once it's open they can choose Print from the File menu to print it and/or choose Save or Save As... to save it where they want it on their computer. |
